Protesters in Tel Aviv staged a demonstration on Saturday (September 7) demanding an immediate hostage deal. Massive protests swept Israel on Sunday following the death of six hostages in Gaza as frustration mounted over the failure of the country's leadership to secure a ceasefire deal that would free Israeli captives. The recovered bodies were from about 250 hostages captured during the Hamas-led shock incursion into southern Israel on Oct. 7 that sparked Israel's retaliatory war in Gaza. At least 40,900 Palestinians have been killed and 94,454 injured in Israel's military offensive in the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, the enclave's health ministry said in a statement on Thursday. Months of stop-start negotiations mediated by the U.S., Qatar and Egypt have so far failed to reach an accord on a Gaza proposal laid out by Biden in May.
