A robo advisor is a digital platform that provides automated investing services. The fees are reasonable, they choose low cost funds and have some cool automated features - tax loss harvesting and automatic rebalancing.
Betterment and Wealthfront are top 2 robo investing platforms with both charging a 0.25% management fee - this is in between self directed investing (no fees) and financial advisors (more expensive).
Robo advisors can be a useful tool for beginners to get started with but after gaining a bit of experience, its best to switch to your own account to eliminate fees. Robo advisors also don't add much value in retirement accounts where the benefit of tax loss harvesting gets nullified.
