Here's how you change the color of your name in Discord.
Coloring is based on the role. So, to change the color of a name, you would need to change the color of a certain role.
Roles are hierarchical. If you do have 5 roles, you will get the color of the highest role.
To set colors, you will need admin permissions. As a simple member of a Discord server, you won't be able to manually change the color of your name.
Coloring in Discord is pretty basic. To make this more flexible, you can install the Discord Bot Color-Chan.
