GPT4 coding example to model Mars' underground temperature. A game changer for computer modeling?

AI is not just changing the way we write text and how we write code, but also how we develop ideas. And it will change how we do research.

I show how to use GPT4 to address and solve numerically this geophysical problem:
Mars' orbital obliquity changes are larger than Earth's. Is today's temperature at potentially life-hosting depths in Mars (2-5 km or more) dependent on latitude? Or are the obliquity oscillations rapid enough to smooth out the pole-to-equator temperature difference before the insolation heat wave reaches those depths?
Using GPT-4 from scratch, we ask it how to address the problem, what approximations, what equations best represent the conceptual model, how to solve the equations and finally, making the figures for us.

Next step (so far disabled in public AI language model): accessing the own results of the codes they develop so that they can judge on their results without user assistance.

Thanks Andrea Butturini and Ignacio Marzán for the martian and GPT inputs.
