🔍 Part 49:Customising keyboard shortcuts
To create custom keyboard shortcuts in Adobe Illustrator, click “EDIT” and keyboard shortcuts to bring up the dialogue box.
Either search for the shortcut you want to change using the search box or browse the dropdown list.
To change the shortcut assigned to that tool, click the first input box until it appears blue, hit a key on your keyboard such as R, or use SHIFT R.
Adobe Illustrator will warn you if you have a shortcut conflict, in other words if that shortcut has been used elsewhere.
Click OK and then type the name of your custom shortcuts file to save it.
You can change your shortcuts file at any time. You can even switch back to the default set if you prefer. Just click edit, keyboard shortcuts and select either your custom saved shortcuts or the adobe illustrator defaults.
