The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says bird flu has been found in Alberta poultry flocks and there are some new cases in Ontario.

Originally identified in Europe, the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain of avian flu in poultry and non-poultry flocks were previously been reported in recent months in Ontario, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.

The agency says avian influenza is not a significant public health concern for healthy people who are not in regular contact with infected birds.

Wildlife pathologist Dr. Brian Stevens speaks about the latest development regarding the growing cases of avian flu in Canada and the impact it has on poultry farms.
