Hi everyone,
This video I talked about how I darken the bottom part of the ball. I darken the bottom part of the ball using the "Burn" tool, opposite of the "Dodge" tool. You need to have an image to use "Burn" or "Dodge". It needs to react on something, preferably from a certain mid tone value. (Which is another reason why we should always paint on non extreme colors on the tool)
I duplicated my main ball silhouette layer (I hope it is not too confusing how I operated at this part of the video) and have a backup version for it.
This backup version is useful for me to fall back on, in case I burned my ball too dark, I can use this layer back on top and drop down the opacity until I get the best value I want.
Using a circle selection I created the shadow underneath and Ctrl H you can temporarily hide the dotted line when you paint, so you can focus on the painting while having the selection ON at the same time. Ctrl + H again to unhide it. Ctrl + D to deselect and then press Filter, Blur, Gaussian blur, I added a blur value of 15 to finish off the shadow.
Hope you like it! Please consider to Like, Subscribe, hit the notification bell and follow the channel! Thanks!
