She tried to sell me GTA 6 on Xbox. A game that won’t be out for a while. So how did this random E Girl on Xbox get access to a game that isn’t even released yet and is still under development? Is it possible she tried to scam me? Absolutely, especially for the fact that I found her in the Xbox Looking for Groups which is home to many newbie scammers on Xbox. She also demanded £120 for it which seemed unrealistic. Basically you’re supposed to pay double of a $60 game in the form of a code? That’s not how it works. She is definitely a scammer.
I found her in the Xbox Looking for Groups. Her post said that she is selling Microsoft Store codes in limited numbers, almost as to entice you into hurrying up to send her money. This post was sketchy. It’s common for scams to come in the form of redeemable codes on the Microsoft Store. So I got interested in her post so she sent me a message asking if I’m interested in a code. She eventually told me the code was GTA 6. Grand Theft Auto 6. A game that is still under development. I feel like her targeted demographic for this GTA scam were kids that would jump at any chance they can get to buy GTA VI. That alone was concrete evidence that she was a scammer. So trying to get evidence was not something I was after anymore since I knew GTA 6 is not even released yet. She basically subliminally admitted to being a scammer.
After confronting her about it, she didn’t take me seriously and neither did I. She admitted that no one fell for this and that she did this because she was bored. But the fact that she was conscious about her time being wasted, demanding me to send her money over Xoom, and the post alone was clear intent. Just because she didn’t take anyone’s money does not mean she’s not a scammer. She showed clear intent. If anything, she is an attempted scammer. She didn’t like me very much but I hate scammers with a burning passion. Scammers are the lowest of the low. Whether this was her first time or not, she needs to do better, and not attempt this anymore.
Let’s say hypothetically this was legit and she actually had early access to GTA 6 on Xbox. Xbox Enforcement would almost immediately ban anyone who played a pre released title or a pirated version of GTA 6. For some reason, Xbox Enforcement was always enacting the ban hammer on players that played games before their release. I don’t know why they don’t focus all that energy on worse things like scammers and criminals on Xbox. Their priorities are something I don’t agree with. But either way, if I bought GTA 6 from her, I would be short the £120 or whatever and I would get banned regardless.
