This film will briefly cover the repression of the language of the aboriginal people, through the dislocation brought on by the residential school system, poverty, and racism. Our film explores how the loss of culture has affected native society, with emphasis on how the loss of language has aided the social problems and dislocation that many aboriginal people experience. We examine how the language and culture may hold some hidden mysteries; such as a deeper connection to nature and spirituality, and a unique lens through which to view the world. Lastly we took a look at the efforts made to revitalize the language and dwindling cultural traditions.
