Wasting Away - SD
We live in an ever-growing society that puts value in recycling. What exactly is the value? When, and why, did recycling become important to us? In metro Vancouver we see new bins for sorting recycling appearing on street corners, at sky train stations and in our workplace. We see advertisements encouraging new green initiatives. Is this having a positive effect on the amount of re-usable waste we produce or does this just make us feel better about our developing "disposable culture?" Some say a zero-waste community is achievable, and others think we are doomed to drown in our own filth.
