VFX with Natron - E0094 - Vertical Video
In this episode we are going to explore various ways to get a video vertical inside of Natron, along with some of the potential issues one might run into. The main issue people run into is that Natron by default imports all videos with the widest direction being the width, and thus vertical videos import sideways. Note: I didn't fully show that with technique 2 ( image node, merge rotated video over) does not require a reformat node at all, but it can still suffer from the 2 pixel rotation bug, but the workaround is to set the merge node to use the bounding box of the constant. That said the reason it's important to understand the two variants of the second technique, even though they are more complex, is they are the only way to output multiple write nodes with different output formats/resolutions and aspect ratios. Otherwise one is stuck only being able to render in one output format, which is dictated by the project.
