Can Telegram Fix Social Media?
In a year where the internet and social media have dominated daily life more than ever for all of us, we've felt the social repercussions more than ever of a global society that's more connected than ever, but at the same time the most disconnected and isolated it's been -- and not just physically.
Most of us signed up for social media a decade ago, when everything was new and innocent. But in that time those initial, corporatized platforms have become our sole sources of information, where we are no longer using a service so much as we are both the manufacturers and consumers in the fight for our eyes.
Something has to change, and I'm not the first to say it. New alternatives must come to correct this ridiculous course and feverish pitch of a world now obsessed with content and controversy. We have to back away from the monolithic media monopolies that we pushed into prominence.
For me, that change starts with one app: Telegram.
