Gedan barai (gedan harai-uke - 下段払い受) - low-level sweep - refers to this movement in the video. Different karate styles perform the movement with different emphases. In Goju-ryu the goal is to describe a head to groin arc while keeping the arm loose and heavy, and whipping at the end point.
