Subject: Implementation of Government's decision on the recommendations of the Seventh Central Pay Commission - Increase in the maximum limit of gratuity amount for Central Government employees on reaching the rate of dearness allowance to 50% - regarding.
The Department of Expenditure vide its OM No. 1/1/2024-E-11(B) dated 12.03.2024 has issued instructions regarding increase in the rate of Dearness Allowance from the existing 46 per cent to 50 per cent of the basic pay from 1st January, 2024.
3. Accordingly, as per the decision of the Government in implementation of the recommendations of the Seventh Central Pay Commission, the maximum limit of retirement gratuity and death gratuity under the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2021 or Central Civil Services (Payment of Gratuity under National Pension System) Rules, 2021 shall be increased by 25% from 01.01.2024 i.e. from Rs.20 lakh to Rs.25 lakh.
4. All Ministries/Departments are requested to bring the contents of this order to the notice of the Controller of Accounts/Pay & Accounts Office and their attached or subordinate offices.
5. This order issues with the concurrence of the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance vide their ID Note No. 1(8)EV/2024 dated 27.05.2024.
6. This Order is issued after consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, as mandated under Article 148(5) of the Constitution of India, in respect of persons serving in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department.
7. Formal amendments to the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2021 and the Central Civil Services (Payment of Gratuity under National Pension System) Rules, 2021 will be notified separately.
