Real Pilot Advice on Landing a Small Airplane
Whether you're flying on Microsoft Flight Simulator or training in real life, here is some of my advice as a tailwheel pilot over the last few years. I did not invent any of this advice. I have had an amazing mentor and am simply relaying some things I was taught that have personally helped me with the art of the landing. Everything is situational in flying with an emphasis on safety first. Use the length of the runway to your advantage. Pay attention to how the airplane reacts as you slow down above the ground. It will help you get to know that particular machine much better than coming in and stalling your landings every time. Just remember to always be prepared for a go around. If in trouble, and you start to drift off the runway, or bounce down the runway ("chasing it"), just push that throttle back in, give it speed and take back off to go around and try again.
