Hey guys, it’s Jack here from Designmodo.
In this video today we’re going to be covering Designmodo’s new Chrome Extension called ‘Insert HTML by Designmodo’ - which is an awesome piece of functionality that’s a HUGE time-saver.
Specifically, let’s have a look now at just how quick and easy it is now to insert an HTML email signature directly into Gmail.
So, let’s start!
Right now you can see a beautifully designed HTML signature within Designmodo’s Postcards app.
You first need to export this as a ZIP file, so what you need to do is click on the green EXPORT button in the top right-hand corner of the screen, click ‘Download as ZIP’, switch the Host Images Online switch to ‘ON’ and press Download once more.
After a short moment, you will have the ZIP file copy of the HTML newsletter saved on your device.
If you haven’t already - now is the perfect time to download the Designmodo chrome extension.
All you need to do is head to the Chrome Webstore, find the extension called ‘Insert HTML by Designmodo’ and click ‘Add to Chrome’. Confirm by pressing the ‘Add Extension’ button once more, and just like you see on the screen now, you’ll see the extension appear amongst your chrome extensions in a few seconds time.
Once that’s complete - now head to your Gmail within Google Chrome and click on the Settings cog in the top right of the screen.
This brings up the full Gmail settings - so now scroll down within the General Settings tab that is the default view - until you reach the Email ‘Signature’ section. There’s a button next to it with a blue plus sign that says ‘Create New’. Give that a click - name your new signature, and click save.
You’re now customizing your ‘New Signature’ - and have the option to add HTML code via this button here in the bottom left corner. Once you click it - you’ll see a new window pop up ready to receive the HTML code we exported early.
To add this, head over to your ‘Downloads’ folder - and locate the ZIP file. Extract the file from the ZIP folder, and open this up as a text-based HTML. Then, select ‘ALL’ text, and copy that directly into the box that’s still open in your Gmail Settings, and click ‘Insert HTML’.
Looks like that worked perfectly, awesome! As you can see, the beautiful email signature has been automatically built directly into the box - and you can do a little scroll just to make sure every part is as you expected.
And don’t forget, you can even make any final colour or font changes, or any other final touches you might want to add right here in the same window.
All that’s left to do is to compose a new message back in the normal Gmail view - click on the bottom right - choose the signature which you just created - and boom! There it is.
Finally, as you can see, I’ve opened the test email in my Outlook and this is how my email signature looks in my outlook app. Looking as clean and slick as it did in Postcards - right inside the new message.
And with that, we’re at the end of this video.
I hope you’ve found this walkthrough of the new Designmodo Chrome extension beneficial. If you have any questions or comments don’t hesitate to get in touch in the comments section.
As always, thanks for your time in watching! I’ve been Jack from Designmodo - over and out!
