Armenian soldiers set up a checkpoint on the road from Martakert to the Aghdam district, which is the first of three to be handed back to Azerbaijan by Armenia as part of a Russian-brokered peace deal to end fighting in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. As Azerbaijani forces are expected to enter the district, an Armenian man packs his belongings and sets fire to his own house before leaving Aghdam.
