Digital signature of authorised signatory can be used to authenticate various GST returns and forms filed by a taxpayer on the GST portal. Note that the GST portal accepts only PAN based Class II and III DSC types.
Earlier DSC was mandatory mode of authentication for taxpayers which were companies, PSUs and LLPs. Rest of the entities can either use DSC or E-Sign to digitally sign documents on the GST Portal.
However, as a recent relaxation due to the COVID pandemic, GST Network has allowed EVC mode of authentication for companies while filing GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B on the GST portal, apart from DSC.
