When vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz takes the convention stage tonight, it will be a fresh test of how Democrats are choosing to address perhaps the most divisive issue for their voters: the war in Gaza.
The Minnesota governor hails from a state where nearly 19 percent of primary voters voted “uncommitted” to register their discontent with President Joe Biden’s staunch support for Israel. Walz will address the convention tonight, and it’s unclear whether he will talk about the ongoing conflict — even as the campaign offers olive branches to party members who say it would send a strong message if he does.
