In Javier Baez' highly anticipated return to Wrigley Field, the former Cub was 0-4 with four punch-outs in a 3-1 Cubs win over the Tigers on Tuesday night at Wrigley.
Baez was honored before the game and given a standing ovation in every at-bat - which was well deserved from one of the best Cubs ever.
As for the game, Javier Assad was excellent, allowing just one run in 5.2 innings. Cody Bellinger drove in two runs with a double and Dansby Swanson added a solo home run to provide the offense.
Hector Neris was DFA'd by the Cubs before the game, so the closer's role was open. Porter Hodge got the save in the back end of a bullpen that also includes Jack Neely, Cubs 18th ranked prospect.
