1. What IS layer?
In AutoCAD, your drawings represent real world objects like walls windows doors And furniture. To make your drawing looks better AND organized, you need to control the properties of this object, differently. Layers is that tool, which help you to organize and control your drawing. Creating and Managing Layers. To Creating and managing layers you will get all tools from home tab layer panel. I will start by creating layer. To create a layer, you should open “layer properties manager.”
Click on this to open layer properties manager.
or
you can use “LA” as shortcut to open this.
Hold this from left mouse key and place @ the corner of the window. And click on minimize.
When you take cursor on it will automatically extends the panel.
In this panel we will find multiple tools, I will explain all in a sequence of its uses.
1st click on this to create a New layer – or use “ALT+N” as shortcut key to create new layer.
Then specify the name of layer
& the properties Like.
Color
Line type
Line weight &
Transparency.
To set selected layer to currently active
Double click on status.
or
click on this tool.
or
use ‘Alt+C” short cut key.
And click on this to delete selected layer – you can use ALT+D as a shot key to delete the layer..
Next one is new layer VP Frozen in all viewport.
For example, hear I will create new layer in the name of “VP Frozen layer”. & turn on status to active.
Let me create some drawing in this model workspace.
and I will switch to layout space. hear the created drawings are not visible because active later created in VP Frozen layer. VP means viewport. Double Click on this rectangle to edit viewport & open layer property manager. then uncheck VP froze. Now vp frozen layer converted in to normal layer in this viewport. And double click on this blue border to finish viewport edit.
