Saab Robot 08, the Western World´s first ship-based Anti-Ship Missile
Saab Rb 08, was a development from the French Nord Aviation CT20, a target drone from 1957. Saab worked directly with the French company to redesign the target drone into a ship-based missile and in 1966 the Rb 08 went into service with 2 Swedish Destroyers of the Halland class.
98 missiles were produced up until 1970 and they stayed in service until 1995 when they became replaced by RBS 15.
Robot 08 is powered by the French turbojet engine, Turbomeca Marebore'
900 kg in total weight with a 250 kg high explosive warhead. Topspeed 900
km/h and max range 250 km.
