Today we will learn What is 5G and How it works. 5G is the latest next generation of mobile networks which will revolutionize how we use phones now.
To understand what is 5G we first need to see how phone network works. The phone technology works on the radio signals which we learned to use for sending and receiving information in the early 90s.
Now later when tech keeps on developing we created cellphones which helped us to communicate in real-time. We call the development as a generation.
So the 1G came around the 1980s which allowed us to call only. However, in 1990s the 2G which used digital tech to communicate came. It was better and faster with the capability of sending and receiving SMS and later with the help of GPRS one could send emails from the phone.
While later in 2001 3G came with greater internet speeds up to 3 Mbps. The phones started revolutionizing.
In 2009 December the fourth generation with a capability of higher bandwidth came. With peak speeds of 50 Mbps, it was faster than the 3G networks.
Later in Mid April 2019 5 Started rolling out. Now the What is 5G?
Well, 5G is a cellphone technology with very high-speed connectivity and bandwidth thus connecting a lot of devices at a time to the internet.
How Does 5 G works?
5 G operates in 3 bands. Low Band, Mid Band, and High Band
Below 1000 MHz is called Low Band Spectrum where the signal can travel for longer distances, penetrate walls but the limitation is low speed.
While the Mid band can be the sweet spot within the spectrum 3.3 to 3.8 GHz.
Here you will get good coverage, better speeds above 500 Mbps but the high band will offer you speeds above 1Gbps with the limitation of poor coverage. In the High spectrum, the signal can't even penetrate the walls. The spectrum that High Band uses is above 24Ghz or higher.
Right now 5 G is still in its beginner phase. While in upcoming years established 5G will enable us to connect and work together remotely with a lot of other things which will be fantastic.
So 5G will take some time to establish. Right now there are a lot of things which had to be done by the phone companies to make good use of 5G Networks around the whole country.
