Peter, Sue & Marc - Birds of Fantasia (Mix-Attempt)
Another idea I had in my head for a few months by now; finally had some incentive to actually do it.
What I basically did:
• Cutting Fantasia and Birds of Paradise (both the 2015 remaster as FLAC) to roughly match their beat
• Adjusting the volume of each track to match their counterpart (at least technically)
• Importing the cut files into Reaper
• Modifying the volume envelope to have only parts of either track playing
What I actually wanted:
• A proper mix with German and English phrases in the same stanza / refrain
Since the only files I had were the already mixed tracks, I couldn't cleanly extract the vocal parts and just put them on a instrumental version.
This approach would only have worked if there had been any instrumental release, but as far as I am aware, there isn't one and probably never will.
Also, if you listen closely, you can hear that both recordings have a different level of quality.
Due to the fact that Fantasia was released in 1977, I guess the mixed version of Fantasia was just stored/mastered differently.
In comparison to Birds of Paradise - which was released in 1980 - the instrumental backing sounds a lot cleaner and better recorded.

1st Stanza + Refrain: Fantasia @ [00:37].221
2nd Stanza, Refrain + Outro: Birds of Paradise [01:43].445
Why?
Well, that's a personal story; but to put it brief: both songs had been part of one of the best phases in my life and therefore they will always have a special place in my heart.
