“Dual enrollment” - you can take community college courses in high school (at least in the US)
It’s not that widely known (at least I don’t think so) but in the US you can take community college courses while still in high school. This is a great way to get more experience in a lab (potentially with equipment your high school doesn’t have), learn more advanced topics, as well as topics not offered at your high school, and get some credit (high school and/or college - details will vary by location, school, etc. so Google what’s relevant to you and/or speak to guidance counselors).
I personally really benefitted from dual enrollment and had a lot of fun doing so. I took a number of classes including chemistry, biology, and human anatomy. I did online school for most of high school, so it was minimally disruptive for me to take classes during the conventional school year, but if you are in a traditional school, be careful not to overload yourself. There might be collaborations between the school and the college that can help with this sort of thing.
Regardless, there’s the summer! And if you don’t have to work full-time, I recommend taking courses if you’re looking for something to do! The summer term is usually shorter so more intense, but you will learn a lot!
Another great thing about dual enrollment is it’s typically free (at least the enrollment part, you still might have to pay for books and/or lab fees) - and if it counts for college credits you can get some free credits! (Minus your hard labor costs of course!) You can also get some pre-reqs out of the way this way so that once you’re in college you can dive right into the courses that most interest you! (I did this and it let me have time to take some really neat classes I might not otherwise have been able to).
