"Let Me In" was my 2nd demo album and was released in the spring of 2006. At age 15 (and still going by Corey VandenHeuvel) I had only just started singing in the months prior and was certainly not anywhere near confident enough to be singing in the recording studio, but as always, was very eager to push myself towards the next step. Musically I was steeped in the blues with Stevie Ray Vaughan being my ultimate guitar / vocal hero at the time and recovering from several years of "shred" after being immersed in Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Dimebag Darrell etc. I began playing all around southern Ontario in a teenage blues trio with my friends Steve Pitts and Daniel Fox. Lots of BluesFests, BBQ joints, bars and local showcases where I was doing everything in my power to be the second coming of SRV and Jimi Hendrix including playing the guitar behind my back and indulging in gratuitous long guitar solos. I was learning how to perform onstage in front of people, singing a full show and bantering with the audience. That summer we decided to make this demo with the help of a couple seasoned musicians Steve Weatherall and Dave Sutton from Cambridge, ON who hooked me up with an afternoon of studio time. We finished this demo which features a couple originals -- one of which would end up rerecorded on my debut full length album In Balance -- and a classic Buddy Guy song. Its rough and raw for sure, but it showcases my young singing voice and some reasonably inspired guitar playing. Steve and Dave did an excellent job and the recording wasn't too bad overall.
