to install a tar.gz file on Linux, open up your Terminal and navigate to where you have downloaded the BitTorrent file, such as this:
cd ~/Downloads
then type the following:
tar -zxvf bittorrent_sync_glibc23_x64.tar.gz
if it doesn't work, make sure the "bittorrent_sync_glibc23_x64.tar.gz" part of the above command matches the name of the file you downloaded, if it does not then change it so they match perfectly.
To open BitTorrent Sync, open up your browser and type the following in your address bar:
local:8888
you will need to create a user name and password, once you press enter a popup will appear. Enter the username and password you just created to sign in.
Remember to only share the folder/files that are safe to do so. Do not share any system files as this may allow someone to hack/crack or break your PC and potentially get personal info.
