Imagine you’re trying to teach a computer how to recognize things—like telling the difference between a cat and a dog. You don’t give it a list of rules; instead, you show it lots of pictures, and the computer learns from those examples. This is what a neural network does—it learns patterns from data.
It’s called a "neural" network because it’s inspired by how our brains work. Our brains are made up of billions of tiny cells called neurons, and they are connected in a huge network. Neural networks in computers are a bit similar, but instead of neurons, they have nodes or units that are connected in layers.
