In this tutorial I'm going to show you very easy how to translate your entire website using TranslatePress. Just like this, with a click of a button. It's very easy. Let's start right now. If you want to support me to create these awesome free videos, go to https://wp.discount/translate/ The link is also in the description and in the comments of this video. Then we are at TranslatePress, the WordPress translation plugin that anyone can use. Now the beauty of this: one language is completely free. But if you do want to update, it's only $90 a year. And then we have the ability to use 221 languages. Now, that's a lot. But in this tutorial, I'm going to show you the free version. Log into your WordPress website. If you're still logging in using /wp-admin/... that's not a very safe way, so please watch my tutorial about securing your WordPress website. And then we go to 'Plugins' - 'Add new plugin'. And then we search for the plugin called "TranslatePress". Put it in over there. And then we are going to install this plugin now. And then we press on 'Activate'. You can press 'Allow & continue' or we can just press on'Skip'. We're going to dive in straight through the settings of TranslatePress. So the first thing we need to change maybe is your default language. Our default language of this entire website is English, so that's actually pretty great. And then we're going to select the language to which we're going to translate to. On this tutorial, I'm going to translate everything to Dutch because I am Dutch, so I know how this works. Press 'Add'. If you want to add another one, for example, let's add some Arabic, then we need to upgrade of course. Then we go to scroll down and here we can change the native language name. So in the dropdowns and in the menus, you can see the names of your translation, are they in their native language or in the language of the website itself. What I personally use is 'No', because then I see my entire website is English, also the translation names are English, so they have to choose their English name, and then all gets translated. Here you can choose a subdirectory for the default language. What it then will do, is on your url - I now have elementor.mortgagedivi.com it will create this /en/ and that will be the basis of your entire website. Although it is the default language. Why? You say yeah, that's also my question, don't use this, just keep it like this. And then when we change to Dutch, it goes like this. German it will go like this, all the different kind of languages use them, but not on your default language. So keep this on 'No'.
Then you can force your language in custom links. Keep this on. Yes, it affects all links on your website, so this should be great. Here we have different kind of language switchers. So we have the shortcode, a menu item, or a floating language selection. All of them can be customized the same way. So if you want to have a full language name without a flag, this is the option you should choose. A short language name, flags with name, flags with short name, or just only the flags. Most of the time I only use flags with short language names. I really like that option. But you can choose for the menu, for example, only the flags, and for the floating thing you can use whatever you want. So this way you can customize your entire language switchers. later on I'm going to delete the floating language selection as I really don't like this on my website...
