Are women more likely to vote No on Scottish independence?
In recent days, polls have found more women than men are moving towards a No vote on Scottish Independence. Jim White took to the streets of Edinburgh to ask some female voters where their X is heading and why.
Over the next seven days, women in Scotland will find themselves pursued. What everyone wants from them is their vote.
Pollsters suggest that, in the independence referendum, women have been slower to make up their minds.
Less gung ho than the Scottish male, more inclined to consider the issues, they have been more likely thus far to hold back from commitment.
But as the decision day grows closer, the polls have found more women than men are moving towards a No vote.
The interpretation of the latest poll result noting female nerves about the idea of independence has been many and varied.
Women are more sceptical, more realistic, less idealistic. Plus, since the woman is more likely to run the household budget, they are more concerned about the financial implications of independence.
In a bid to discover what it is that might inform female choice, we took to the streets of Edinburgh to ask women voters where their X is heading and why.
We met committed Yes enthusiasts, staunch believers that Scotland would be better together and several who had yet to come to a conclusion.
Plus some who wondered whether the pollsters and politicians might be wrong in their assumptions that all women come to a decision in the same way.
