The Jews chose the Temple Mount as a place of worship over 3500 years ago when no one else had religious claims to the site. Several studies have shown that the ancient Israelites were the descendants of the earliest settlers in this region.
But what about the Palestinians? Haven't they also been living in the area for a long time? Well, first of all, you need to understand what the word Palestinian actually means. The word Palestine was invented by the Romans when they occupied the Jewish state of Israel about 2000 years ago. It was just an alternative name for Israel, invented to humiliate the Jews.
Israel has always belonged to the Jews and will always belong to the Jews unless the Jews give it up and they never have.
But what about the Arabs who have lived in the area for many generations. To put it briefly: After the Romans took Israel from the Jews, the Muslims took it from the Romans, then the Christians took part of it, then the Christians were defeated again, and finally the whole area came into Muslim hands and eventually became British Mandated territory. And while most of the so-called Palestinians came after the British Mandate had come and offered jobs and after the Jews had come and made the area prosperous, some came during the earlier period of Muslim occupation.
Some nomadic Arabs settled in the area even during the Muslim occupation.
