Hippos prefer to live in areas near water and marshes, which provide ample water and food sources for their survival. Weighing up to 2,867 pounds, hippos are among the largest land animals. They have a total of 40 teeth, including two sharp, 19.7-inch-long canines used for attacking enemies and crushing food. The life of a hippo is not just about resting and seeking food. They often face struggles to defend territory or seek mating partners. Territorial disputes among male hippos become extremely fierce, especially during mating season when they compete to attract the attention of female hippos. In this struggle, the long and sharp canines of wild animals are used to attack each other.
This strong male lion started a chase with the impala. Having no other choice, the antelope jumped into the mud thinking this was a way to escape the lion's pursuit. I thought that place was safe, but I didn't expect this to be the end point when two hippos appeared. Stuck in the mud, the impala is motionless and becomes the target of fierce attacks by wild animals. In hippo territory, any intruding creature faces a tragic fate.
