In the wild, male lions often face fierce battles to protect their territory and dominance. With an average lifespan of about 14 years, lower than that of female lions, the life of a male lion is harsh and full of risks. Exhaustion and weakening from constant fights make male lions easy targets for wild animals.
The wound on the hind leg is evidence that this male lion has just experienced a fierce hunting pursuit. Its movement becomes quite difficult, but it still persists in its efforts as it tries to wade through the water.
