Every country has its own way of organizing towns, cities, and big urban areas, but there's no one-size-fits-all approach. Take Paris, for example. Each arrondissement is like its own mini-city with its own local government handling things that matter in that area, which lets them focus on the unique needs of their neighborhoods.
Meanwhile, over in the United States, the names "town" and "city" don't always tell you about size or importance. Some towns, like Brookhaven in New York, have more people living in them than many cities. They're called towns not because they're small but because their local government has a different setup, usually covering a larger area with fewer people packed together.
This variety shows how flexible and different local governance can be across the world. Each system reflects its own history and what works best for its people, whether it's a tightly-knit city district or a sprawling town.
