🔍 Part 33: Joining lines and completing patterns
To join two open ends of a pattern or the ends of two lines, use the direct selection tool. Click the first line, to highlight it’s end point, then select the end point. Hold down SHIFT, then select the other line to highlight it’s end point. Select the end point. Finally, right click and select join.
You can also use click and drag to select the two ends points, as long as you only select the two end points.
To match and join two end points that are almost touching, follow the same steps, only this time, click average, select “both” and click ok. The points will now be directly on top of each other. With the points still selected, right click, and select join.
If the point is no longer where it should be, using the selection tool, click and drag the new point back to position.
This last technique is most commonly used to clean up patterns that have messy corners, where one point should only be used to define that corner.
