In this video, we will look into the various steps of boot process in #Linux system. During the boot process, kernel initializes the central system process, known as #init process, which is responsible for managing all other child processes in user space. We will then discuss different types of init programs that were being used in the past as well as in the latest Linux distributions. Most of the current Linux distros use #systemd as their system initialization process and we will check how services are managed in #systemd environment.
There are different ways of creating processes but fork and exec are commonly used functions in Linux system. We will discuss about fork and exec concept with examples and see how processes are created in Linux Operating Systems. We will also see different types of kill signals to terminate the process, and finally, we will look into the jobs and discuss how to manage jobs in the background or bring them into the foreground and also learn to kill them when necessary.
