Derivative of 1/x by First Principles (limit definition) | Calculus 1 Exercises
We differentiate 1/x using the limit definition of the derivative. The derivative of f(x) at x=a is the limit as x approaches a of (f(x)-f(a))/(x-a), and we use this limit definition of the derivative to prove the derivative of f(x)=1/x is -1/x^2. Later in the course, we will take the derivative of 1/x no problem using the power rule. #calculus1 #apcalculus
