Today I am visiting the heart of the Mekong River, the third largest river in the Asian continent. With the sunrise, we set off from the canals in Can Tho and go to the Cai Rang floating market. The Mekong delta is a geography in the south of Vietnam with fertile soils and interesting fruits and vegetables that nourish the region. The changing climate conditions and rapid industrialization of neighboring countries is taking its toll at this region. Despite the challenges, locals are continuing their traditional lifestyle. After visiting the floating market, we stop by a noodle factory and learn about traditional noodle making. This is how people live in the Mekong Delta, the source of life in southern Vietnam. Enjoy!
