My friend is stuck on "connecting" screen, what now?
If your server is running fine, and you can connect no problem, then we can narrow down the issue. If your friend's internet connection is fine, we can eliminate that as an issue. There is a networking problem. The Terraria server supports UPnP, which is automatic port forwarding, but maybe your router doesn't support it, or that feature in your router is simply disabled. The other issue is maybe your firewall is blocking terrariaserver.exe from opening sockets to the internet. If this happens you need to allow terrariaserver.exe as a trusted application through your firewall. Depending on your firewall, this is exactly where I would start. search how to allow a program through 'insert name of your firewall'. If you need to manually port forward, I have a video on that too.
How do I know if my router supports UPnP?
The easiest way is to do a google search "does 'router make and model' support UPnP"
