Let Us Pray | Message From Pastor Mel | September 15, 2024
Bottom Line:
Prayer is central to a genuine walk of faith. Prayer puts into action the belief that God exists, that He hears our prayers, and that circumstances as well as people are impacted as a result of faithful prayer.
Prayer: Communication with God fueled by faith which involves our adoration, confession, gratitude, and our requests.
"Prayer does not equip us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work". Oswald Chambers
1. Pray faithfully in all circumstances James 5:13; Matthew 6:5-8
A. Pray through trying times. v. 13
B. Pray through triumphant times. v. 13
2. Pray faithfully for healing and help! James 5:14-15
A. Don’t go it alone. v. 14
B. Don’t abandon the process v. 14
C. Don’t forget the centrality of faith. v. 15
3. Pray faithfully for one another! James 5:16a
A. Be real! v. 16a Fellowship = koinonia "all things in common". Acts 2:44
B. Be restorational! v. 16a "confess your sins" - goal is to restore
C. Be righteous! v. 16a "healed" = spiritually, emotionally, physically
4. Pray faithfully because it makes a difference James 5:16b-18
A. Pray humbly! v. 17
B. Pray fervently@ (persistent passion) v. 17 Luke 18:1-5 - Parable of the Persistent Widow
C. Pray specifically! v. 17-18
