A quick video and listening test where I A/B compare an unmastered track to a mastered track.
I've been doing mastering for Hip-Hop, RnB, Trap, and Alternative Rock music for the past 5 or so years and this was a track I did for a friend and a great producer Sycamore Sound.
Basically I want to demonstrate to a potentially experienced listener what difference the music mastering process can make.
Some of the key aspect of mastering music include: tonal balancing (EQ, multiband compression, saturation, emphasizing/controlling specific freq ranges), managing peaks and transient material (transient shaping, compression, limiting) and bringing the track up to professional loudness levels (reference mastering and limiting).
Please let me know what differences you hear between the two versions and what you like and dislike about each version. It will help me improve my mastering and give me a better perspective as to what listeners focus on when listening to and analyzing music.
