Air Pollution:

" The contamination of the atmosphere by toxic pollutants present at concentrations above their natural levels which pose adverse effects on living things and the ecosystem in general."

Sources of Air Pollution:
There are many sources of air pollution.

Some are natural and others are man-made.

Man-made Sources:

These are caused due to human actions, such as,

•Industrial: Different types of Industries (Petroleum, Textile, Chemical ), Power plant etc.
•Traffic: Ships, Buses, Cars, Trucks, Plane etc.
•Domestic: Insecticides, Municipal Sewage etc

Natural Sources:

These are caused by natural reasons, such as,

•Volcanic Eruption.
•Forest or wildFire.

Emitted Pollutants from different sources:

Carbon Monoxide (CO), Carbon Dioxide (CO₂), Sulfur Dioxide (SO₂), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂), Lead (Pb), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Hydrocarbon (HC), Particulate Matters (PM) etc.

Effects of Air Pollution:

• Photochemical Smog
• Acid Rain
• Lung Cancer etc.
