Hooke's law:
Hooke's law, law of elasticity discovered by the British physicist Robert Hooke in 1660, which states that,
"The displacement or size of the deformation of an object is directly proportional to the applied force "
that means,
F(def) = ⊕ k × ∆x (Deformation)
or
F(res) = ⊖ k × ∆x (Restoring)
Deformation:
Deformation refers to the change in an object's shape or form due to the application of a force or forces.
There are two types of deformations-
Such as,
• Plastic Deformation
• Elastic Deformation
Deforming force:
Deforming force is the force which displaces a body from its original position.
Restoring force:
The force which restores the size and shape of the body when deformation forces are removed is called restoring force.
Spring Constant:
The spring constant shows how much force is needed to compress or extend a spring by a given distance.
The constant of a spring can vary depending on:
•Wire Thickness
•Material Type
•Spring Diameters
•Total Active Coil
