Can you use the Aputure Light Dome Mini ii as a key light?
This was one of my questions when looking for a good softbox that was quick and easy to set up. In short, yes. This softbox provides an excellent look in a small form factor that will work well in confined spaces.

"So does it work?
Yes, pretty damn well. It’s not the softest light in the world, and you’ll have to be fairly careful how you place it but it does work. The video linked above is a demonstration of how quickly the setup and teardown is, as well as the quality of the light the godox and aputure produces.
As it’s not as larger light source as the light dome, you’ll have to be careful where you place it not to produce extremely pronounced shadows on your talent. I angled it 45 degrees in front and to the side. This for me gives the best results.
In the screenshot below you can see what improper placements yields. This was placed too high, and with my focus below the light, cast very dramatic shadows under the eyes. This would be less forgiving with the light dome."
