Using the two 'Grayscale printing' media types on the PRO-1100 17"/A2 pigment ink printer let you print with no colour inks. The problem is that the media types for fine art and photo media are not installed by default.

Using the Canon Media Configuration Tool [MCT] software allows installation, but just how good are these 'secret media types'? What features do you lose if you want to use them? Why have Canon hidden them away?
