Set to take place close to the twentieth anniversary of 9/11, this panel will use Costs of War research to both take a reflective look back at the last 20 years of war, and to forecast the new face of the post-9/11 U.S. wars going forward. Although U.S. troops are withdrawing from Afghanistan, the global scope of the post-9/11 wars is on course to continue in less-visible ways -- as is the U.S. militarism that it symbolizes and carries out.
Panelists:
Neta Crawford, Co-director and Co-founder of Costs of War. Professor and Chair of Political Science at Boston University.
Stephanie Savell, Co-director of Costs of War. Senior Researcher, Watson Institute.
Heidi Peltier, Director of "20 Years of War," a Costs of War research series. Research Professor, Boston University's Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future
Nadje Al-Ali, Director, Center for Middle East Studies, Robert Family Professor of International Studies, and Professor of Anthropology and Middle East Studies, Watson Institute
Moderated by Ieva Jusionyte, Watson Family Associate Professor of International Security and Anthropology.
