On Safari with the Canon RF100-500mm
I've heard many amazing things about Yala National Park so i thought i'd visit for myself to see what all the fuss is about.
I had a choice to make between which gear to take. Should i take the 400mm f2.8 again or take a more versatile and lighter option. I was planning to travel around Sri Lanka and not just visit Yala Park, so therefore i chose the latter option. The thought of lugging a huge and expensive lens like a 400mm f2.8 lens around with me everywhere was no very appealing, despite it's superior image quality.
The RF100-500mm lens has previously proven to be more than capable for game drives and general wildlife photography. I opted for the R5 camera due to it's extra mega pixels, could this be the dream combination?
Low light performance is always going to be a concern but i'd rather be able to capture the action first and then worry about noise later.
I think the RF100-500 with the R5 performed extremely well and would recommend it for anyone thinking about a safari trip.
