We are incredibly proud to announce that Nigara Shaheed, a recent graduate of our International Development program, will compete in the Paris Summer Olympics! Originally from Afghanistan, Nigara has overcome tremendous challenges and has now been living, studying, and training in Toronto for the past year and a half, and will be joining the Refugee Olympic Team in @paris2024. Nigara is among 36 athletes from 11 countries competing for the @refugeeolympicteam. She has previously showcased her skills at the Düsseldorf Grand Slam in 2020, the Kazan Grand Slam in 2021, and the Tokyo 2020 Games.
