In todays episode so much is happening! A plot holder has taken on another growing space and has decided to recover a standard green polytunnel, by using a @polytunnels cover. Stay tuned for that video.
I also show you how to sow leeks for an abundant harvest in winter. I sowed Musselburgh and Russian giant leek seeds directly into the polytunnel bed. You'll end up with pencil thick leeks in spring to plant outside. I also show you how to sow spring onions in a containerwise module tray. Successionally sowing crops ensured you always have a crop ready to plant in a bed. I also feed the birds to ensure the wildlife in your garden are fed up, in preparation for mating season. I built 2 more metal raised beds, which I'm going to use for carrots. I will show you how to sow the perfect carrots very soon, by using the spent potato compost from the 30 litre buckets i use to plant the perfect potatoes in march. The fig and olive plot has been barked with fresh oak bark. It is glowing and looks so fresh!! The grapevine garden is being barked next.
I brought over some oakleaf green and red lettuce that i grew under growlights, but now will benefit from natural light in the polytunnel. they will benefit from the warm, light and moisture level of the first tunnels polytunnel. I found a gnarly branch that i think the frogs will benefit from it in the nature pond.
The pak choi have bolted in the raised bed that was cloched. Lessons were learnt. I've been donated an old shed that i will show you how to convert an old shed into an open outdoor potting area. I also found a base with wheels that i may turn into a mobile carrot raised bed. Am i the first?
I also hit 5k subscribers on my channel so thank you so much to everyone who supports me and my channel. thank you!
The shallots and garlic are growing well now, also the spring bulbs! I've brought out some of the module trays of seedlings to have a good water from the rain and to harden off in preparation for planting outside. I also mulch the asparagus bed with well rotted manure.
Whats happening to the onion sets in the module trays. Such a strange anomaly!
I also find a new visitor to the plot! a frog at the pond! I'm also considering creating a natural hazelnut trellis structure for peas or sweetpeas to replace the tulip bed after they finish flowering
