Can You Paint on Terracotta Pots With Oil Paints?
Can you decorate terracotta flower pots with oil paints? And do you have to prime them before painting? I tried painting on a primed and an unprimed clay flower pot using water mixable oil paints to see what happens.
When I was testing out whether you need to prime terracotta pots before painting on them with acrylics and researching, I came across the information that whatever you do, you shouldn’t use oil paints on clay flower pots and I got curious to find out why.
I will hold on to these clay pots and update you on the drying time, sealing and whether there’s a difference in how the paint pots or paintings wear over time.
